It seems nearly everyone is jumping on the blog bandwagon these days, and no wonder: a blog can not only bring your site back to life and give people a reason to keep coming back and interacting with it, but it is also a way to add content that can be quickly indexed by search engines and bring even more visitors to your site.

WordPress as a blog

The most common use for WordPress is to use it to add a blog to your site, either as part of your site or at its own domain name that you then link to from your site. Some of the things you can do include:

  • Logging in to a secure administration section
  • Writing, modifying, and deleting articles
  • View comments that people make about your articles, as well as modify, approve, or delete them.

Add a blog and convert your site to a CMS

WordPress can also be used for making edits to your website’s content. This is usually a bit more work than just adding a blog, and requires that your site template be fixed up and converted to work with WordPress. After that is done, you will be able to log in and make edits to your website’s content at anytime.

Of course, WordPress can be used to edit your site’s content and blog articles at the same time. It’s all done through the same administration system. Here is a sample of what you’ll see when you log in to edit your site’s content: (click to enlarge)

You don’t have a website yet?

We’re often surprised to see how many businesses still do not have an online presence yet. Some of the reasons might be:

  • You think the cost of getting a website online is too expensive.
  • You think you don’t need to have your business on the Internet.

Well, it can be expensive to have your own website produced, but it doesn’t have to be outside your budget. It all depends on how unique you want your site to look and what kinds of features you want.

The good thing about having your site developed to work with WordPress is that you’ll never need to contact a Web Developer like me again. Once it’s set up, you should be able to edit your own content and add new pages and media on your own. So, it is usually just a one-time expense

Templates to help get you started

There are tons of great templates available that can help us get started on your new site and save you a lot of money. Most of the templates you’ll find often only require a few hours of work to set up as your own, which usually involves changing the site name, the names of pages, adding your content, and images.

Once you have decide on a couple of templates, let us know, and we’ll let you know how much work it will take to convert it to be used for your own website.
